C.C.C. Reopen under COVID-19:
A Guide for Worship and Fellowship

C.C.C. Reopen: A Guide for Worship and Fellowship

Since mid-March of this year, we have relied on digital methods to gather while scattered due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. We have held virtual live and online worship services and community group meetings with tools like Zoom, Facebook Live, texts, emails, and phone calls to stay as connected as possible during this time of national distress. And for the month of June we were meeting at Pines Baptist Church, who we like to thank for their gracious generocity allowing us to temporarily meet there.

Together, we have learned more deeply what we already knew—meeting electronically pales to meeting personally. We have missed worshipping God and fellowshipping together, anxiously waiting for the time when we will be allowed to gather again as a church family back on our home campus. We’re blessed to return to our home church location a Pines Charter School Central Campus to resume meetings there on Sunday mornings beginning Sunday, July 5, at 10:30 AM! Our Prayer Meeting will be moved to Thursday nights at 08:00 PM live and through zoom meetings.

Therefore, we want to be as prepared as possible to welcome our church family and guests back during these difficult times of fellowship with a program of guidelines and protocols. This program mirrors the plan of our host church and facility.

As CCC reopens their facilities, we know that extra care must be given to make people feel comfortable after this time of quarantine and continued social distancing. Added precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of guests and members. Therefore, in following normative guidelines, the following procedures will take place.

     CCC will:

  1. Regularly wipe down surfaces with disinfectant, especially those surfaces that would likely be touched. These include tables, chairs, counters, door hardware, light switches, electronic equipment and so on.
  2. Deep clean the cafetorium as needed.
  3. Clean/wipe down restrooms as needed and based on facility usage.
  4. Install hand sanitizer stations throughout the church.
  5. Work to make the church as “touchless” as possible by:

            a. Propping doors open with greeter stationed six feet outside or six feet inside.

            b. Emphasizing online giving and providing an offering box in the sanctuary at the
exit instead of passing the offering plates.

     We will:

  1. Honor the six-foot social distancing guideline and work to keep a safe distance between family groups.
  2. Have children sit with their families.
  3. Observe the practice of wearing a face covering when inside the building.
  4. Refrain from our regular greeting time to minimize physical contact.
  5. Not initially provide bulletins and other handouts. As things improve, we will reintroduce them in a way that reduces contact.
  6. Continue to live stream via Facebook to mitigate personal contact.
  7. Encourage handwashing and hand sanitizing and only allow limited numbers of people in restrooms at one time.

When we reopen for corporate worship, we will have to adjust to comply with the guidelines given to us by federal, state, and local leaders and agencies. In the process of seeking to comply with all the guidelines, we will focus on the awesome God we serve. We will celebrate and worship Him. He is worthy of all our worship!

We also ask everyone arriving for services to leave a parking space between their car and the next one to comply with social distancing guidelines.

We will release a schedule of shepherd group meetings to take place in voluntary host homes (observing the current guideline of 10 maximum members) in tandem with Zoom online meeting facilitation, as well as other ministries (e.g. SCPM) as we relaunch ministry in person, slowly and incrementally. As we engage with others in these meaningful relationships, we will have to comply with the guidelines from federal, state, and local leaders and agencies. This may necessitate the continued use of online platforms and the development of new ways to minister to current members and guests.

     We will:

  1. Ask that host homes consider mitigation guidelines for every community group meeting and ministry.
  2. Ask that host homes prioritize cleanliness for community groups that gather by cleaning and sanitizing before all gatherings.
  3. Continue to utilize virtual gatherings as necessary, continuing to address the needs of those who are not technologically engaged and feel isolated and lonely.

We will continue to offer multiple giving options including online giving (e.g. the CCC website and the Give+ phone app) and mail in giving. While there will be an opportunity to give (e.g. checks or money order) in an isolated, singular container at the worship services, cash and coins will not be accepted at this time.

Finally, we encourage families who have not been significantly impacted financially to consider being a blessing to those in need in the church as we also assist those families in need through our benevolence giving and resources.
